kayaking

My husband and I would love to rent a kayak when we come to Cape May. I%26#39;m a little nervous though about paddling in the harbor with all the big boats zooming by. Any suggestions on the best place to rent a kayak where it%26#39;s quieter and we can enjoy watching the birds etc.? Thank you! C.P.

Sorry for the delay in replying to your question it took some digging. But Unless your an Ocean going Kayaker the harbor may be your best bet.

Aqua Trails Kayak Nature Tour

Ocean Drive, Cape May 609-884-5600

I found this outfit on Cape May dot com. They offer guided tours of the harbor....mostly in out of the way places where the ';big'; boats shouldnt be a problem.

Hope this helps and works out.

Cheers!

Hi John, Thanks for your help. We%26#39;ve been wanting to go kayaking for some time, but there is so much to do in Cape May I%26#39;m never able to do everything I want and we always discover something new. This time kayaking is on top of my list. Thanks again. C.P.

We own a sea kayak, so we%26#39;ve been around The Wildwoods a few times.

Here%26#39;s a link to the business John mentioned above

There are umpty-ump ';sounds';, ';reaches'; and ';creeks'; running off of Cape May Harbor where you will have no worries about big boats - because they would all run aground.

Take a look at a good chart, and you will see, for example, ';Skunk Sound';, which runs more or less due north from the harbor, almost opposite the western edge of the Coast Guard base, on the south side of the harbor.

I%26#39;m glad we have some good answers here, because this is totally out of my experience range. Sorry I couldn%26#39;t add more, but George and John had some great info.
