Two longish threads here about the ';deterioration'; of the AC casino experience may have influenced me to sharpen my observation skills as my younger sister and I sailed down to Charles Town yesterday for a few hours play.
Like Hollywood in Harrisburg, Charles Town is small, and one amenity is a greeter as you come in from the parking garage-- a gentleman dressed in coat and tie who gives a verbal greeting. It%26#39;s a nice touch and in this economy not a bad job.
Charles Town consists of four largish rooms (with smaller connecting areas as the casino grew) and a tiny upstairs section. Yesterday they had one housekeeping person covering each of the areas. They are aggressively tidy and one really young man said to the lady playing next to me, ';You%26#39;ll have to move till I get this trash out of here.'; She did; she was angry about it though. There are at least three places in the casino where you can find soft drink dispensers, and a request for bottled water usually results in the waitress pointing you towards a water fountain.:):)
Even though there are designated smoking areas, folks were smoking everywhere. If there wasn%26#39;t an ashtray, they just flicked the ashes in the area next to the machines. I was standing to play a $1 machine when I was approached by a woman about my age smoking a cigarette and wearing jeans and a ';wife-beater'; t-shirt -- not a good look for a senior citizen even if she was the skinniest woman I%26#39;ve ever seen--who asked, ';Can you spare ten bucks, Honey?%26#39; I ignored her AND her request but I thought to myself that $10 was a pretty high begging amount. I guess, like tipping, panhandling requests have become inflated.
My last casino story has me inserting my last twenty into a Cashola machine where I hit for 800 quarters on my first spin. A guy playing behind me flew into a rage and started yelling that he%26#39;d just left that machine and that was HIS money. Needless to say, I cashed out and walked away.
My point is that most of us who frequent casinos have these kinds of experiences. They are not limited to AC.
So . . . what%26#39;s your casino story?
Casino Stories
And this is the ';competition'; that AC has to deal with??? WOW..remind me never to switch! I guess I a living right...we%26#39;ve never had anything even approaching these kinds of experiences in AC. Think I%26#39;ll stay! Thanks for the look at the ';other places';.
Casino Stories
Many years ago, about 14 or 15 years ago. We were playing at the Sands which was always a great casino for us. Hubby was playing B/J,I was playing Quarter slots in the old days when the coins came tumbling out. I had a BIG bucket of them too. I was kind of in an area alone, but not to bad. When out of no where i feel something hit the back of my left foot. Bucket being sat next to me on right side next to slot machine. I turned around looked down to left side to see what it was. Saw 2 Quarters by the back of me. Picked them up. Bucket gone. OMG I was so mad!! I bet over 300.00 in there. Since, i have seen that scam shown on a t.v.program.Yeah for the tickets instead of coin.
We happen to go to AC when they had a porn convention going on!
Talk about people watching!!!
Fine Mind - thanks for posting this and reminding us that AC isn%26#39;t the worst place in the world to gamble! Some of my interesting experiences include: watching a drunk guy trying to insert a fried twinkie into a slot machine at the Mermaid in Las Vegas (he got quite angry when they came for him, insisting he had put in a hundred and wanting his money back).....seeing a wife deck her husband in Philadelphia Park (he actually went down and had to leave in an ambulance) and another drunk guy grab a player around the neck after the player won a jackpot on the drunk guy%26#39;s ';machine';, at Grand Biloxi.
This doesn%26#39;t include countless drunks barfing into potted plants, panhandlers with creative stories, etc.
For me, people watching is as much fun as the gaming itself. Always so much to see!
ACM
I posted this 2x b4, but still worth a read:
Last November, I was with a %26#39;cougar%26#39; from gradeschool who dipped into her 401k to get new b00bs[avoid getting blocked]. She was showing them off by wearing a vest. While the rest of the crew was playing VP @ 12bar, she approached some guys having a bachelor party at the tables around 12bar at Showboat. She wasn%26#39;t popping them out, she wasn%26#39;t looking for s@x, she wasn%26#39;t looking for money. She was on a %26#39;plastic surgery high%26#39; and was looking for attention from men. The guys only got a %26#39;side-b00b%26#39; view. And we [all 4 of us] got kicked out of Showboat. So...
and I continued in another post:
Once the bachelor party grew tired of her blonde hair, tight jeans and EZ-view vest... um I mean tired of her company, she joined us at VP slots. Within a few minutes, all of us were asked by security to leave the Showboat. The bartender announced to security that the %26#39;cougar%26#39; was not harassing them and that we were all well-behaved %26amp; thought security was being harsh. I appreciated that he was supporting us and security gave us no reason for booting us, but I realized it was time to go. I was REALLY upset because I had a full beer and security made me leave it. Security did not bother to escort us to the door, but I REALLY was sad about that beer. What a waste, there are people right here in America that are sober.
Good stories!
rship-got a kick out of yours!
I have one but gotta head to work so no time for telling now---
rship already trumped anything i can tell.but this thread needs to stick around,we all have a story to tell we just need to find time to post em
I have lots of casino stories, but the best ones I can%26#39;t post because this is a family friendly message board, lol.
I was at Charles Town a couple of years ago and the night was getting late, so I decided to head over to one of my favorite slot machines...A $1, 12X Machine. Well, got to the machine and a woman was playing it, so I said I will hang around (not hover) in the area for just a couple of minutes and hope it comes open. Well, just after I got there, I turn around and the lady hit 12X, 12X, Red 7. She had max bet in of $2. She won $14,400! Can still remember her saying ';Well, I guess I%26#39;ll be going to Disney World!';.
