Harrahs or the Showboat for Food and Wine Festival?

Hey all,

My gf and I are looking to go into AC of the Food and Wine Festival in July. The best prices are being offered for Harrah%26#39;s and Showboat at 189/night, for two nights (check in friday july 31, check out sunday august 2) We are college students with not too much to spend and were wondering if anyone could give us any advice. Firsly, are these the best rates I will find at this time? Second, if anyone has been at the Food and Wine fesitval before, what events are the ones to really look to go to? I was actually in a show at the Showboat a couple years back, and would rather not go back, but if thats the best/closest to everything I will get, I am not that proud. Is the Chelsea worth the small amount extra they are asking? ( 200/night). And lastly, between the Showboat and Harrah%26#39;s which would you pick? Thanks in advance and I look forward to the advice.

Where is the food and wine festival? If its at the convention center Showboat might be the better choice of the two as you can take the jitney direct down Pacific Ave to that area and then walk a couple of blocks. If location of the festival has nothing to do with it Harrahs is the better property but it is not on the oceanfront if that is a consideration.

The GFood and Wine Festival is being hosted at all 4 HET properties. There are specific events at each property. Make sure you purchase tickets for the events you would like to attend. I believe this is the link:

All of the events we would like too attend are at Ballys. Ballys is out of 199/night rooms and only has 250/night rooms left. So that isn%26#39;t really an option. Oceanfront isn%26#39;t really a big deal, but since so many of the events are down there, we don%26#39;t know if we want to be coming back at night down to Harrahs but I can%26#39;t imagine we would be the only ones doing so.

I wouldn%26#39;t think you%26#39;d find better prices than that on a weekend in the summer ...

To get back to Harrah%26#39;s you would have to take a jitney or cab. The cab cost would be $13 plus tip. Jitney is $2.25 I think.

Showboat is walkable.

If you can get Friday night and Saturday night for $189 each you should book right away. Saturday night in the summer usually goes for over $300.

Harrahs is nicer than Showboat, but Showboat is more conveniently located.
