Garden Pier Closed

What will happen to the FREE PARKING?!

I REALLY am sorry to hear this. We went to a neat KIDS%26#39; art show there. Hope it%26#39;s fixable.

I never got my Heinz pin.

I was fortunate to get a Heinz pin from RShip - I know because it bit me as I was rooting around for something in my pocketbook not long ago, lol. I AM sad to hear they%26#39;re closing the Pier and hope this is only temporary as there were two cool museums there, tho I must admit I passed on the art center and focused on the historical part.

NOW where will everyone park?

Guess we can%26#39;t use the famous ';Garden Pier/free parking'; hook anymore to justify off topic chatter *sigh*

It%26#39;s too bad they didn%26#39;t fix this when the economy was good...fat chance now.

ACM

I think it might be part of the deal to get the museum and art center to move elsewhere. That has been part of the Revel plan. Before the economic bust, there was even talk of moving them to a rebuild of the sunken pier in front of Resorts.

It is always sad when you lose a piece of local history!

Bill

The garden pier, temporarily no longer has two free museums and free parking until 4pm.

Channel 6 news just reported that the engineers that checked the pier were hired by Revel. It just so happens that Revel wants to buy the pier and they are still in talks with the City over the price. An unsafe pier would certainly bring a lower price.

Channel 6 also mentioned that there is no comment from Revel on why this visual inspection by Revel engineers even occurred.

conjecture:

Revel: well, it was raining Monday and the engineers went under the pier for protection from the rain and since there was no construction going on due to the rain, they had nothing better to do than condemn the Garden Pier in hopes of making it less valuable. And eventually, for Revel to knock it down for the city %26#39;as a favor%26#39;, since they already have lots of construction vehicles onsite and in return, in exchange for this %26#39;favor%26#39; the city can relinquish the rights to the Garden Pier to Revel.

OR

Revel: we want to close New Jersey Ave in order to finish the garage and condemning the Garden Pier, no one will have any reason to HAVE TO drive on New Jersey Ave
