I had seen some comments regarding the Showboat and nearby construction - since the hubby and I were considering staying there in the next few months, we called them to ask about it.
I just wanted to share an update with you - we were told by the front desk that the contruction was next door and that it has stopped as a result of the recession.....

ur posting this to point out the incompetence of Harrah%26#39;s employees, right?
b/c a $2bil project stopping due to the recession just might have a news story or a press release to explain why such a huge project ended and hundreds of construction workers were laid off. like when they scaled back construction in Jan 09 and laid off 400+ppl... nj.com/news/index.ssf/2009/01/revel_lays_off… excerpt %26#39;Wednesday January 28, 2009, 5:00 PM
Revel Entertainment laid off 400 workers today and said it would stop interior work on the one new casino project in Atlantic City that hadn%26#39;t yet fallen victim to the economic crisis and the credit crunch%26#39;

They were working on it last weekend.
The front is really pretty now that you can clearly see the waved shaped glass front. I didn%26#39;t get to my room till 4am friday, and 2am Saturday, so of course they were not working on it in the middle of the night, but they have done a lot on it since a few months ago, at least the exterior, is really looking like it will be nice.
Just sharing what I was told - if it%26#39;s inaccurate - then I guess that it is as a result of an error on the part of the Front Desk clerk.....
Maybe they meant the parking lot section that is the closest to Showboat. It’s about 500 feet from SB. The exterior of that did seem to be mostly completed last Saturday. The casino and tower(s), still being worked on, are about another AC block farther away.
Its getting bigger and bigger, at least from the outside.
Primary construction work continues at the Revel site. Those cranes are busy.
