Newark Penn

I need to travel to the Basking Ridge from D.C. and loathe EWR, so I thought about taking Amtrak and renting a car.

I%26#39;m wondering what makes the most sense?

Right now I%26#39;m thinking about taking Acela Express from Union to Newark (Raymond Plaza West on Market Street) and renting a car there (I believe there%26#39;s an Enterprise at the station).

Are there better options? How hard is it to find my way back to Penn and is it a place I want to be driving around at night alone?

Thanks!

Newark Penn

I used to live in Basking Ridge.

An option is taking Acela all the way to NYC Penn Station. Then take NJ Transit midtown direct train back out to NJ.

Depending on where in Basking Ridge you want to go, Millington, Lyons, and Basking Ridge stations would work for you.

The schedule for the midtown direct train is different on weekdays versus weekends so take that into consideration.

It isn%26#39;t too hard to find your way to Newark Penn Station as it is off Route 21 of I-78. I wouldn%26#39;t want to get lost in Newark at night alone or not.

You don%26#39;t have to goto NYC at all. You can take Amtrak to Penn Station Newark. From Penn Station Newark take the light rail from Penn to Broad Street. And from Broad street take the Gladstone train to Basking Ridge. If a weekend board a dover train to Summit and change there for the gladstone train. If you have anyother questions please feel free to contact me.

thanks - i need to get to an office park in basking ridge, so I%26#39;ve been assuming the best bet is to rent a car at the Newark Amtrak station (Enterprise).

Yes.
