TR 5/15-5/16 Caesars

My wife and I did an overnight trip Friday into Saturday. We arrived in AC around 6pm and made a quick detour to Brigantine to drop our stuff at the house where we were staying. We then parked at Caesars and called our friends who we were meeting for dinner. They took us to the Chairman%26#39;s Club at Trump Plaza. We%26#39;ve been there once before with them. They have a nice buffet and everything was delicious. They are also not skimpy with the drinks and we were all feeling fine by the time we left.

Wife and I went back to Caesars and played for a couple of hours. I played blackjack and some slots. My wife played slots.

We were both pretty tired so headed back to the house about 11pm.

Saturday morning, we had breakfast at the bagel shop on Brigantine Blvd. Nice family-owned place. We%26#39;ve eaten there before. Good omelettes and nice fresh bagels. From there, we took a drive past Absecon lighthouse. I wanted to show my wife where it was. She and our daughter had said recently that they wanted to go visit a lighthouse sometime so we will come back one of these days and check it out.

Then it was back to Caesars for another round of gaming. We played until noon. We were going to do lunch but I had to run back to the house. Someone else was using it Saturday night and I had to get the key to them.

We shot right back to Caesars and walked over to Ballys to have lunch at 6ix. We%26#39;ve never been there and wanted to give it a try. We waited in line for almost 25 minutes before being seated against the wall right near the counter in the back. Not a great location and pretty noisy. The kitchen was on the other side of the wall and we kept hearing stuff banging and clanging in there. I%26#39;ve seen all of the ads for their $7.77 specials. They make such a big deal about them that you might think there were a bunch of choices. What a scam. There are 3 choices - one for breakfast, one for lunch and one for dinner. My wife tried to order the dinner special until the waitress came back and said that wasn%26#39;t available until after 4pm. Might be nice if the servers knew how that worked.

She ended up with a turkey burger and I got the Oriental chicken salad. Both meals were very good. The service wasn%26#39;t so hot. Overall, we weren%26#39;t particularly impressed. Oh, I also found it really inappropriate that some of the restaurant staff, like the cashier, were wearing various buttons promoting the union organization. I think it was quite unprofessional and inappropriate to be doing that in that setting.

After lunch, we headed to The Walk. My wife was looking for a pair of shoes so we checked out a few stores but she had no luck (just like in the casino - LOL). Still, it was nice to walk around and get some fresh air.

We headed back for one last round in the casino before heading out around 5pm. Overall, a nice stay. Had a couple of good meals and good drinks. Played a lot and didn%26#39;t lose all that much.

sounds like you had an enjoyable overnight trip...

Sounds like you had a nice, little get away and even better that you didn%26#39;t lose that much.

always a good getaway when both of you enjoyed it.

did your wife find shoes? usually cant get my wife away from the jewlery kiosk when we go to harrahs,she also fell in love with the 10 dollar shop in the pier shops area.

';did your wife find shoes?';

Nope. She went to Naturalizer and Easy Spirit. She tried on a bunch but nothing fit right. Size 6 was too tight. Size 6-1/2 was too loose. Just one of those days.

Nice mini vacation. Thanks...I agree about the buttons...not the time nor the place to be wearing them. A total turnoff.

%26gt;%26gt;we took a drive past Absecon lighthouse%26lt;%26lt;

I%26#39;ve been in the lighthouse over a dozen times and have NEVER climbed it [even on free days]

I would def recommend the lighthouse. It is very interesting. The ocean used to be much closer. There is a lot of neat information there and old pictures of AC.

I didn%26#39;t climb it either, but just the public areas and the little gift shop are really neat. (We walked there on a freezing cold day and I still had a fun time there checking the place out.)

';The ocean used to be much closer.';

It%26#39;s funny that you say that. As we were driving around it, my wife commented that it seemed awfully far from the shore. I figured the lay of the land had changed over the 150+ years since it was built.

If we go, we will definitely climb it. Otherwise, what%26#39;s the point? We want to see the view from the top. The view from the bottom certainly isn%26#39;t so great.

I cannot find the pic from the lighthouse online [or the one from %26#39;Monopoly: The Story Behind the World%26#39;s Best-Selling Game%26#39; amazon.com/Monopoly-Story-Behind-Worlds-Best… ], but here is 1 u can see the lighthouse was closer to the shoreline in 1894 …iup.edu/kpatrick/…20big.JPG
