Has anyone tried using a Visa/debit card at the Taj for incidentals, etc. at check-in? We don%26#39;t usually have a problem using it at other hotels, but I see a ';credit card or cash deposit for incidentals'; on some information pages. Does anyone know what the cash deposit would need to be?
(We got rid of our credit cards, but plan to get a new one now that we are traveling more - just won%26#39;t get it before this weekend.)
Taj: debit card at check-in?I think most hotels want to see a credit card, but I%26#39;d give them a call and ask.
Taj: debit card at check-in?As long as it has the Visa/Mastercard logo, you can use it. We always use a debit card. You can also get a travel card through AAA, you do not have to be a member.
you sould have no problem but to be on the safe side i would call just to make sure
I have used debit cards at taj all the time, and no problems. It just takes longer for the deposit to hit your acct when you leave.
Just make sure you have enough in your account to cover what they require for the hold, I%26#39;m not sure what that is but you can ask at check in. I think if you use debit cards you know that, so I don%26#39;t want to sound like a know it all. Also remember those funds will not be available during your visit to be withdrawn and as the above poster said, it might take a little while to have those funds credited.
Have a great trip and congrats in this economy of having no credit cards. You must have listened to Suzy Orman. LOL
The advice you%26#39;ve gotten so far is correct.
As long as it is a Visa/MC debit card there will be no problems. They will put a hold on it (I think it is $100/night there), and that will be money you can%26#39;t spend. But you can check in no problem.
They will not accept an ATM debit card. If you can use your card to charge things at other locations you can use it in an AC hotel or casino.
I%26#39;ve had it take 7-8 business days for the money to be refunded to my Visa check card. If you don%26#39;t plan on making any room charges, I%26#39;d find out what their cash incidental amount is. From my experience, it%26#39;s usually much less than the ';per day'; charge they put on a credit card. For example, in Vegas, Harrahs is $100 per day to a check or credit card, or $200 cash for your trip. So rather than tie up $700 in my account for seven nights of the trip, plus another week after I got back, I just hit up an ATM for $200 cash and paid with that. Then you get it back the moment you check out.
Thanks for all the comments. Great idea about the cash deposit - I never realized it could be less. We%26#39;re not expecting to charge anything to the room (we%26#39;re on a friends%26#39; comp, so I don%26#39;t expect we%26#39;d get any additional food or beverage comps ourselves).
Counting down the days to get away now...
I would ask about the cash deposit because one trip I went and they said no cash deposit must be on a credit card or debit card, hope this helps, this is at the taj though not het properties
You can use your debit card at the Taj. When I was last there just over a month ago, they had upped the hold amount from $100 to $150. It usually takes 1-2 business days for my holds to come off.
Hope this helps.
