Brigantine Advice/Info

Hi - my husband %26amp; I are spending the upcoming Memorial weekend (actually the week of May 23-30) at Brigantine. Does anyone have any overall advice or information about ';best places to'; -- see, go, golf, eat) in Brigantine or surrounding areas?

Thanks!

Brigantine Advice/Info

We go every year in August so I could possibly help you out.... what kind of stuff are you looking for?

Food that we like: Hooper%26#39;s Seafood or Brigantine Seafood both have great fresh seafood. Pirates Den has great breakfasts and very reasonable priced early bird dinners. Laguna Grill is a little more pricey than the others but they have an open patio on the beach. Even if you just go for a drink, it%26#39;s very nice!!

Stuff we do every year: Visit the Marine Mammal Stranding Center, we adopt a seal every year and love the gift shop because the proceeds go to running the center. Beside that is the historical museum.

There is a golf couse on the island but we don%26#39;t golf so I can%26#39;t tell you much about that.

We usually like to just hang out at the beach every day, spend one day at one of the nearby boardwalks and spend one day on a charter fishing boat. You%26#39;ll love it there!!!

I%26#39;ll gladly you help in anyway I can.... just ask!

Brigantine Advice/Info

We have a vacation home in Brigantine so I can tell you about some of our favorites. We like Carmine%26#39;s on 9th or Goochi Brothers for Italian food, Hooper%26#39;s Seafood Cafe, and Laguna Grill for dining right next to the beach. If you stop at Wawa as you come onto the island you can pick up a Brig. Beachcomber or Brig. Times newspaper in the vestibule and find the addresses of these restaurants plus other things that are going on in town over the weekend. There is a very nice golf course in Brig. called The Links at Brigantine Beach, their website is www.brigantinegolf.com. Off the island we usually go to The Walk in Atlantic City, an outlet mall in the heart of the city or out to RT.40 (aka Black Horse Pike) where they have shopping malls, strip malls, movie theaters and chain restaurants. You can get there by the AC Expressway, exit 12 brings you closest to Hamilton Mall, straight ahead off exit, and movie theaters etc. to the left and through jug handle turn.

Ocean City, Cape May and Wildwood (if your into amusement rides) are also fun day trips. Hope this helps!

Hi MLN2603 -- thanks very much for your response! You provided some helpful info, especially about restaurants (love places with an open patio on the beach). And, the Marine Center sounds like something we%26#39;d love [we were recently at South Padre Island, Texas and visited a Sea Turtle Rescue Center that was so interesting].

I%26#39;m not sure what else to ask, but if I think of something I%26#39;ll come back to you. Thanks, again!

Hi kidsandcats (great moniker!) -- I appreciate getting the ';inside scoop'; from you. The restaurants sound good; we%26#39;ll definitely stop at Wawa (we%26#39;ll have a kitchen unit so we%26#39;ll be fixing some of our own food); and I%26#39;m sure the Brig Beachcomber will have good info and maybe even coupons for local places. And the Links website will be very useful for my husband.

So thanks for all your good advice!

MimiW2, if your going to buy some groceries there%26#39;s an Acme supermarket on your right past Wawa. It%26#39;s off the main rode, turn right at the traffic light that comes soon after Wawa onto 38th Street and take another quick right and then at the stop sign take a left into the Acme parking lot. Thanks for the compliment! Have fun.

We spend a couple of weeks each year at the family%26#39;s Brigantine condo. One of our rules is %26#39;no cooking%26#39;. We like the Chinese take-out at Great Wall (in the same shoppng center as the Acme mentioned above). Let me also second Pirate%26#39;s Den for breakfast. It%26#39;s a mom-and-pop throw-back to an earlier, more relaxed and friendly time. Don%26#39;t miss it, but expect a wait on week-ends. For a splurge the Ruth%26#39;s Chris Steakhouse in AC provides first-class food and service, and with the ecomomy being what it is, they also have been offering terrific three-course fixed-price dinners. It%26#39;s located right in the middle of the AC downtown outlet stores so you can walk off your meal with a purpose.

We used to go to Carmine%26#39;s when it was in the Acme mall. Kidsandcats, is Goochi Brothers the restaurant that took thier old location? If so, how is the pizza?

One of our favorite non-eating activities is walking on that wide, never crowded Brigantine beach. Enjoy!

Yes, Goochi Brothers is where Carmine%26#39;s used to be in the Acme shopping center. I tried it for the first time in April and the pizza was very good. They cleaned up the place and it%26#39;s more classy then Carmine%26#39;s was, but not too expensive. Enjoy!

Yes, Acme for groceries (you can tell I%26#39;m not used to Wawa or Acme!) Thanks.

Thanks for your suggestions, Reefsbum. Pirate%26#39;s Den sounds like the place to go. And yipee for outlet stores and a wide, never crowded beach!

Thanks for your input ...

Hi,

You will love Brigamtine. We have been renting the same condo for the past 5 years and we love it. Like the others have said the beaches are not crowded and beautiful. We even got friends starting last year to come enjoy it with us. On the island the pirates den is good. We go to A.C. for dinner a lot (back bay ale house, angelo%26#39;s, etc.) You will have a great relxing time.
