surfing in AC, place to stay

going to AC in the mid June (~12th) for 3-4 days and will be interested primarily in spending time on the beach and particularly surfing. Won%26#39;t be having a car and will be arriving to the city by a Greyhound bus. Can anyone recommend a reasonably good place to stay? e.g. close to a surfshop (and a surf spot).

many thanks

Saburo

1 regular has stayed at the Irish Pub Inn a lot in the past [venusuz], www.theirishpub.com/flash/AtlanticCityPub.htm I do not know if any rooms are available that weekend

u might try posting here for help also http://www.surfingac.com

another suggestion for a place to stay is Flagship on the Inlet. http://www.fantasearesorts.com/flagship.php u can walk up the boardwalk to the surfing beach [between The Garden Pier %26amp; The Steel Pier]. Sat nights in summer are expen$ive. if u can change your travel dates, u will find cheaper rates

The Irish Pub will very likely have rooms available for mid June, as they%26#39;re just dealing with Memorial Day madness now, so give them a call if luxury isn%26#39;t a priority and a place to crash with a (cheap) bar downstairs is.

I have no idea about surf shops in AC - check RShip%26#39;s link for that - but I know I see surfers up by Showboat (about 3 or 4 blocks from the Irish Pub) a lot going into the water as I%26#39;m going to bed or coming in for the day when I wake up. It seems like a popular spot.

I can%26#39;t find an equipment rental shop in AC, but googling Atlantic City surf shop gives you 8 results, two of them in AC. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en%26amp;q=atlantic+city+surf+shop%26amp;aq=0%26amp;oq=atlantic+city+surf+s

Have a great time in AC - hope you find some good waves, be sure and check out some forecast sites before leaving for your trip.

I think the closest surf shop is in Margate http://www.heritagesurf.com/ there is Web Feet WaterSports, but I believe it is more of a general beach store w/bike rentals, beach chairs %26amp; such http://www.webfeetwatersports.com/

Lots of surfers here. Ask us anything:)

Just joking. Good advice. Have a great ride!

thanks a lot everybody for the answers!

At the end of the day, I didn%26#39;t feel like staying in the pub and booked Eldorado Motor Inn. Yes, the rates are god damn high for Saturday nights, didn%26#39;t know it in advance for the overall US trip planning.. but never mind this time.

Surfing in AC/NJ? I see that your coming in from overseas. I hope that the ocean is not the primary reason for visiting AC. Water is somewhat disgusting compared to Florida or Cali.

I don%26#39;t know what%26#39;s “somewhat disgusting” about the ocean at AC lately, except being colder than FL or Southern CA? FL does have nice red tides though.

Dave,

Look at the water in Naples and then look at the water in AC. See in difference? If not, I recommend Lasik.

FL Atlantic Ocean www.shutterpoint.com/Photos-ViewPhoto.cfm… looks pretty much the same to me as NJ Altantic Ocean activerain.com/image_store/uploads/2/7/2/5/9…

it is unfortunate that I cannot find photos of red tide in FL, I bet they are PRETTY
