Question about the Chelsea

Hi folks-

First, as many have said before me, thank you for such a wonderful forum. Your lively camaraderie and wonderful advice is always great to read. I only get to AC a few times a year, but I often read the forum at lunchtime to see ';what%26#39;s new';. You are a great bunch of folks!

Anyway, on to my question. I found a really good rate for a Saturday night at the Chelsea at the end of May on quikbook. I have no doubt that I%26#39;ll be put in the ';annex'; part of the Chelsea because the rate was so low. I%26#39;m not really a fusspot, and really, so long as the room is clean and safe that%26#39;s all I care about. But some of the reviews for the Chelsea annex part have really been mixed. Has anyone had any experience staying in the cheaper part of the Chelsea? Are the Annex rooms the equivalent of the Claridge rooms? If they are, that%26#39;s fine-I more care about it being clean and safe. Thanks! Tracy

Question about the Chelsea

Hey, I think you should call the Chelsea and ask for the ';Spirit Top Picks'; rate from Spirit Airlines and ask for your date. The rate is really discounted and you can get the luxe tower really cheaply and don%26#39;t have to be a spirit airline customer. I got the luxe tower in june for $69 night weekday.

Question about the Chelsea

Thanks very much! Not sure if I%26#39;ll get a special rate for a Saturday stay, but I will definitely check it out, thanks. Have you ever stayed in the annex part of the Chelsea? The last review for the Chelsea was pretty bad, as have a number of the recent reviews. The rate I have is $149 for a Saturday stay, which seemed pretty cheap. Thanks again for your reply!

Hey Traccy!

I hope after you have spent a night at the Chelsea, you will come back here and post your findings. I have read so many trip advisor reviews that I have become expert at knowing a legitimate complaint from a bogus one. After hearing a lot about the Chelsea, I made a personal visit--two in fact, and I liked the sleekness of the public areas.

Hope you have a great time and it proves to be a good ';fit'; for you.

So that%26#39;s $149 for the annex. I called and the rates for May 23rd for (2 night minimum) $194 and $244, Luxe King. For May 29th (2 nights but no minimum) its $109 and $144 for luxe king.

About the annex, if I wasn%26#39;t able to book for the Luxe tower, I wouldn%26#39;t be staying at the Chelsea altogether. When it was still the Howard Johnson, we stayed there a night and it was just awful and now I%26#39;m hearing all they did was clean the rooms.

Thank you very much for your kind replies, FineMind and eapple71. I think if I can%26#39;t find a somewhat commensurate rate at one of the casinos I%26#39;ll probably end up staying at the Chelsea - the price for the Saturday stay was just a lot cheaper than the other hotels. Eapple71, thank you especially for taking the time to call the hotel. I think the price you were quoted was for a Friday stay, but I will check with them as well. Thank you! :-)
