We have an international flight planned in Feb. We need to park our car at Newark for 10 days. I%26#39;m looking for a safe and convenient location with fast shuttle transportation. We will be traveling with a young child so anywhere that makes that easier would be great too. Anywhere to avoid would be helpful too. I%26#39;ve heard some negative things about stolen cars, damaged cars and unsafe shuttles.
Thanks so much in advance!
Long Term Parking at Newark AirportHello. I was just wondering if you ever got that information re: parking at Newark..as we are leaving in less than 2 weeks and will also need parking there for 10 days. Looking for a safe, convenient location with good shuttle service as well. Please let me know.
Long Term Parking at Newark AirportI recommend SkyPark - if you hand them a business card when you pull up to the window, they will only charge you $8/day. I have also used Avistar, they have a website where you can download coupons but it%26#39;s still more expensive than SkyPark.
Skypark is the place to go. It%26#39;s gated and well lit . Prices are great and if
you give them a business card you get a discount. They are 24/7, 365
days a year. I fly out at 6:00am every Christmas and they are right there. I always use them.
I have used Avistar (which has a new name now) at Newark Airport many times for long-term (week or longer). They have two lots (McClellan and Haynes)- gated, well-light and high fenced. Go online and you can find a coupon discounting a week long stay. I have never lost anything or had car damange from these lots.
We have toddlers as well and we have taken them to the parking lot to catch the shuttle bus and I have also dropped the kids off w/ my wife at the departure area to check-in, while I drop off the car and catch the parking lot shuttle. I have to check in alone, but w/ no luggage I can use the self-serve kiosks. Tough part is my wife handling the two kids and the luggage alone, which is why we just go together now.
You might also check some of the hotels in the area - like Ramada Inn. If you stay overnight, they might let you leave your car on their lot.
There is no way that I would ever recommend that anyone park at AviStar at McClellan. I parked my car there for 5 days/nights last February (2007). When I returned, at night, from a trans-Atlantic flight, they could not find my, nor others%26#39;, cars for over two hours! It had snowed while we were gone, compounding the problem immensely, so that when I (yes, I, after tromping around in the parking lot in the dead of night in 20 degree weather for 45 minutes) found the car it was buried in snow. There must have been literally 30 or more people, on the verge of rioting, and the staff couldn%26#39;t have cared less. One of them actually told me that it wasn%26#39;t his problem! If not his, then whose problem was it - besides mine? Absolutely the worst, except perhaps for AviStar at JFK - where exactly the same thing happened to me in March 2006. I%26#39;d rather walk from Bayonne than park at AviStar, no matter how inexpensive they may be.
We%26#39;ve been using Corporate Air Parking www.CorporateParking.info for over 10 years, since our kids were babies. We use them at least once a year. Very easy and fast, we%26#39;ve never had a problem. I%26#39;ve never had an impolite driver, nor one who failed to do the luggage.
All of these off site places work the same, you park your car, register at the office, and a shuttle bus takes you and your luggage to the drop off area.
Upon return, you get your luggage then call them. They send the shuttle out to pick you up at a designated area (the airport authorities determine where this will be, not you, my experience is that it%26#39;s always at the opposite end of the terminal from where I get my luggage, that%26#39;s life)
BTW, when you compare prices, be aware that the ones who are physically located in Elizabeth don%26#39;t charge sales tax whereas the ones physically located in Newark do.
Bumping to see if any more reviews %26amp; experiences.
We have had good experience with SkyPark. It%26#39;s also the most economical. I drop the child and her mother at the departure terminal and then park the car myself. Shuttle bus has been frequrent, dependable and safe. Give yourself plenty of time to find your way! I usually get lost at Newark and live only 20 min. away. Go to their web site for most recent pricing and coupons, and print out their map to bring with you.
Avoid Park-2-Go. They stole my cellphone, jerked me around abotu it for over a year, ended up in small claims court twice!!! The owner is a hostile, dreadful person. They have also damaged cars and others have had the same experience as I had, according to what I read online.
Try Skypark. Easy, efficient. Coupon for $10.00/day online.
Also avoid EZ Way at the Sheriton.
