Hi, I am thinking of driving down to Wildwood from Toronto around July 29th for a week and am looking for ideas on how to make this a fun but budgeted experience.
Any good motel ideas? I guess we will need two room everywhere we go? Can you rent condos there?
thanks in advance
Ideas for Wildwood Summer 2009 for 2 Adults %26amp; 5 Kids
There are a number of hotels/motels in Wildwood that have large enough rooms that should accommodate you family. Off the top of my head the Waters Edge Resort has rooms with a pull out sofa, and two bedrooms with two double beds in each. Depending on how old they kids are you should be able to fit.
I believe there are a good number of condos for rent though I%26#39;ve never done that personally.

We usually stay at Fleur De Lis Motel in Wildwood Crest. Very clean and a smaller motel. They have some larger rooms (3 rooms for a bigger family). Book soon as they fill up early.

We also rented 2 years ago in a condo in Wildwood Crest 3BRs - new) from Daniel%26#39;s realty - I booked it just 2 weeks before so we paid $2,000 instead of 2,300 for a Sat - Sat.
Also Diamond Beach - just south of Wildwood Creast is
Seapointe Village. It looks nice too.

Since you are looking for some fun but are trying to stay in budget, you can always go to the Cape May County Zoo. It is a free zoo - they ask for a donation. Great way to keep the kids busy for an afternoon. It is only about five miles north on the Garden State Parkway from the Wildwood exit.
Wildwood Summer 2009 will be great - specially suited for a family of 5. I recommend a condo. You can easily find a 3 bedroom unit beach block for less than what you%26#39;d pay for a hotel. You also have the convenience of a full kitchen so you can have a few meals at ';home'; rather than in a restaurant. The realtors are all pretty good if you search for Wildwood Crest rentals. Look for a complex with a larger pool such as Ocean Harbor, which is also beach block. The Wildwood Chamber of Commerce also sponsors a good number of free activities throughout the summer. Have fun!
The Cape May zoo is wonderful. It is a free zoo (donations accepted) so I assumed that it would be small and simple. Nope. They have giraffes, zebras, lions, tigers, etc. It%26#39;s not far at all fro Wildwood and would be nice if you need an escape from the beach. www.capemayzoo.org/
Another inexpensive option is to go see the Cape May lighthouse and check out the ';diamond'; beach there.
Morey%26#39;s Piers is a series of three piers along the Wildwood boardwalk. All three have mild-to-wild rides and two piers have waterparks. The entire area is very clean. We bought a Family Pack last year for under $200 and it included four all-day wristbands and four all-day water park admissions. So we spent one day on rides and a few days later came back for the waterparks. It worked out great. You could probably just add on extras for your kids because there are different rates based on height (under 48 inches, etc.). www.moreyspiers.com
There%26#39;s lots of mini-golf places and arcades on or near the Wildwood boardwalk. Some of the mini-golf courses have a lower rate earlier in the day.
Also, if you%26#39;d like to save some money, I%26#39;d go with renting a house or condo rather than staying in two hotel rooms. You%26#39;ll have the option of cooking and eating at least some meals. Plus it will give you more space if the weather is terrible. Wildwood, North Wildwood, Wildwood Crest all have plenty of rentals. Ocean City (NJ) and Cape May are not far either. Go to vrbo.com or just google ';Wildwood vacation rentals'; and you%26#39;ll find plenty.
Enjoy your trip.
