Advice and Suggestions please

My mom and I are planning a week or two at the beach to celebrate my dads retirement. We%26#39;re inviting friends and family to come stay with us for as long as they like. We%26#39;ve never been to OC New Jersey but it is much closer than the outer banks for our family in NY and New England and we%26#39;ve heard good things. We%26#39;re looking for a house with 4 or 5 bedrooms, hopefully beach front but we%26#39;re open to whatever. There will be quite an age rangeof kids and adults, from my newborn to people in their 60%26#39;s. We%26#39;re looking to just relax and enjoy the beach. Any suggestions about where to stay either areas or actual properties? We%26#39;re thinking late July to early August of this summer. Thanks

MrsSmith 05,

There are several realtors with easy on-line systems for rental availability (with photos). One with a very user-friendly system is Bergerrealty.com.

My kids like to stay within walking distance to the main %26#39;action%26#39; areas of the boardwalk (roughly 6th to 14th streets), but other folks prefer the quiet ends of OC beaches with a short drive or bike ride to the boardwalk.

Another helpful resource is www.oceancitychamber.com. Great map of the island, etc.

Enjoy!

I would also suggest that you might try some of the owner direct rental sites like Summer Shore Rentals (http://www.shoresummerrentals.com) and a couple of good local Real Estate Agents to check out are Fox (http://www.foxocnj.com/) and Monihan (http://www.monihan.com/).

Ocean City is a great family vacation town. It is a dry town so the boardwalk and the entire town are appropriate for any age of children and adult. If you%26#39;d like to get more of a flavor of the town, you can check out one of the local papers, The Ocean City Gazette on line (http://www.oceancitygazette.com/) and here is the official City of Ocean City%26#39;s web site which also has some great info (http://www.ocnj.us/).

I know that many rentals are already taken for the time frame you are speaking of so I would look ASAP and make plans. Our property on Pennlyn place is almost fully rented for the Summer of 2009 with only a couple of early and late weeks open, and I%26#39;d assume a lot of other prime spots are filling up fast at this point too.

Good luck with your search and have a great time. If you have any other questions there are some very knowledgeable people who frequent this forum.

Thanks for the advice. We%26#39;re going to try to finalize our plans this weekend
