2 day road trip from Toronto

Hello,

We have two days and would like to do some shopping (and eating) in New Jersey the week of May 18, 2009. . We don%26#39;t like high end shops, just regular shopping, but we would like a newer and clean hotel (bed bug paranoia). Can anyone advise on:

1. Best area to stay? (We%26#39;re not familiar), would it be Parsippany?

2. Is it difficult to drive around N.J.?

3. Any other info would be great

Thank you!

What are you looking foe excatly. There are plenty of malls and restuants in New Jersey. Depending where you are maybe. It would be easier to drive around parsipany than say Jersey City or Camden. New Jersey has plenty to do from miles of beaches to the casionos of AC, to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island in Jersey City, to the USS New Jersey and the aquarium in Camden, to the malls of Paramus, to the miles of options on the Delaware. I apologize for sounding like the head of NJ tourisim but, I could help you a little better if you gave me a detailed idea. If you want easy accsess to both the atractions of Northern and souther New Jersey I would reccomend something off exit 8a of the turnpike. Here are a few links.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I mentioned shoppping (not high end) in Parsippany.

Parsipany is not really known for it%26#39;s shopping. Mostly office complexes. Rt. 46 might have the usaual, TJ Maxx, Kohls,Marshals. As for food there is burger king, micky D%26#39;s.

Is there a reason you have picked Parsippany? As mentioned it isn%26#39;t known for anything, particularly shopping. My inlaws lived there. It has lots of residenial areas, office complexes and strip malls, etc.

There are numerouse shopping malls and outlets in New Jersey.

Oh, thank you for letting me know that. My sister stays in Parsippany; maybe she goes elsewhere for shopping, but stays overnight in Parsippany? I%26#39;m not sure.

Where would you recommend?

It%26#39;s hard to say, but if you want shopping, then maybe come to Monmouth County to maybe Ocean Grove and stay in a B%26amp;B:

http://www.oceangrovenj.com/

or at the new Residence Inn by Marriott Neptune at Gateway Centre

That way you would be near Monmouth Mall:

http://www.monmouthmallonline.com/index.asp

and various store in strip malls along Rte.#35 such as Kohl%26#39;s...

and places like Target and Home Depot and Walmart in Neptune on Rte.#66

And not far from Freehold Raceway Mall:http://www.freeholdracewaymall.com/ and lots of other stores in that area.

And newly opened Premium Outlet Mall in Neptune:http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=78

As I said, even though you say that you want to come to shop, I%26#39;m still not sure what you are looking for...hope the above info helps...by the way, driving in NJ is not difficult.

Wow, thanks so much for the great info and links; I will definitely look through them all!
